Show Your Mattress Some Love with these Accessories

Pillows and mattress pads

Give your bed some love this Valentine’s Day with some mattress accessories!

Whether your mattress is brand new or you have had it for a year, it is never too late to learn more about mattress accessories. There are some important accessories you should have for your mattress that many people are missing. Let’s talk about two accessories you can shower with mattress with this Valentine’s Day!

Choosing the Right Mattress Pad

Nothing is better than lying down on a nice soft mattress. But when you have back problems, a soft mattress could mean extreme pain in the morning. Fortunately, a mattress pad can give you the comfort you are looking for with the firmness you require. When choosing a mattress pad you should be looking at a few different things: materials, amount of comfort/softness, and thickness and density. Some materials you can choose from are cotton, feathers, wool, synthetic down, and even latex. These options allow the sleeper to customize their sleeping experience as well as the feel of the mattress pad. Each of these options add a level of softness to your firm mattress and will allow the bed to support you in a soft cloud of comfort.

Choosing the Right Pillow

When choosing your pillows, it is important to choose one based on the size, filling, softness, and your sleeping position. There are three major types of fillings you can choose for your pillows: down or feather filling, memory foam, and polyester fill. Goose down feathers have been known for their warmth and their plumpness.  Memory foam pillows tend to mold itself around the sleeper’s head with the ability to return to its normal shape. This can be beneficial to restless sleepers who need extra support for their neck and spine. Polyester fills is the less expensive of these options and tends to provide support rather well. While it does hold its shape, this material tends to be the less durable option. The size of your pillow should correspond with the size of your bed: standard, for twin or full beds; queen; and king. But buying a larger pillow could make you feel cozy and buying smaller ones make a pile of reading pillows that are perfect for lounging on. You should also consider your sleeping position. Different positions need different support. If you are a back or stomach sleeper, you may want a flatter pillow to keep your neck properly aligned. If you sleep on your side, a loftier pillow helps to fill the gap between the head and neck and keep your body aligned.

There are many different accessories you could choose for your bed, but these accessories will make your bed a perfect place to spend this Valentine’s Day!
